K6 Carbon defines the scope of the proposed pathway by identifying the applicable fuel, energy source or material input, production facility and feedstock. We document the feedstock’s extraction, harvesting or production region and determine whether the pathway will calculate a cradle-to-gate or cradle-to-grave carbon intensity. Our team develops the technical rationale for the application and demonstrates how the proposed pathway meets the applicable Fuel LCA Model criteria. We also describe the pathway and justify any changes to unit processes, modelling parameters or background datasets in accordance with ISO 14040, ISO 14044 and the Fuel LCA Model specifications.
K6 Carbon identifies and documents the data sources and methods used to collect and determine the information entered into the data workbook. We prepare the workbook, complete the required calculations and clearly document any background data used. The resulting data are organized for use as inputs to the Fuel LCA Model. We also prepare a copy of the proposed new pathway, with or without input data, in the format required for the application.
K6 Carbon compiles the supporting documentation required by the Specifications for Fuel LCA Model CI Calculations. We incorporate information required under any applicable emission-reduction quantification method. Where the pathway includes a transferred carbon intensity, we document the contributor, foreign supplier or registered creator, the product or energy source provided, and the approved carbon intensity and identifier where applicable. We organize the applicant, authorized-agent and contact information into a complete and submission-ready application package.
